This 10-month program provides an understanding of neurodiversity, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The curriculum is designed to help prepare graduates to advance themselves as teachers with additional skills in special education.*

The program is divided into ten four-week academic periods (modules), each covering critical aspects of neurodiversity education

• Characteristics and Diagnosis of Neurodiversity: Study the multifaceted aspects of neurodivergent profiles, focusing on understanding characteristics, diagnostic criteria, and assessment methods.
• Research Methods in Special Education: Work on developing research skills specific to the field of special education.
• Curriculum Design and Adaptation for Students with Neurodivergent Profiles: Study how to design and adapt curricula to meet the needs of neurodivergent students.
• Legal and Ethical Issues in Special Education: Work on understand the legal and ethical frameworks that guide special education practices
• Cognitive and Emotional Development in Neurodiverse Individuals: Explore the cognitive and emotional aspects of neurodiverse students.
• Characteristics and Interventions for Students with ADHD: Study about ADHD characteristics and effective interventions.
• Applied Behavior Analysis Techniques: Study behavioral interventions and techniques to support positive behavior in neurodiverse students
• Characteristics and Interventions for Students with Learning Disabilities: Work to understand learning disabilities and how to tailor interventions to individual needs.
• Family-Centered Practices in Special Education: Study the importance of involving families in the education of neurodiverse students
• SPED Capstone Project: Demonstrate your mastery of the subject through a comprehensive capstone project.

At Remington College, we are dedicated to fostering the professional growth of our students. Prospective students must complete the application process and participate in a pre-admission interview and assessment with the Dean of Graduate Studies. This assessment evaluates the applicant’s readiness for graduate studies. To begin, speak to our Admissions Department to gain information about the program.

Applicants seeking admission to our Special Education (MA) programs will need to complete the following to apply:

• Application: After speaking with Admissions, you'll need to complete the application. This will ask for basic personal information and details about your educational background. Make sure to provide accurate and up-to-date information to ensure a smooth review process.
• Transcripts: Applicants must provide documentation of a bachelor's degree earned from an accredited college or university. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended must be submitted as part of the application process.
• Resume: Applicants must be actively employed in a K-12 educational setting. This may include positions such as teacher, instructional aide, or other educator roles. A current resume describing your current employment is required.
• Professional Reference: Applicants must have at least one reference from a leader within their current place of employment. This reference must complete and submit Remington College’s Special Education Master’s Degree Program Reference Form directly to the College at Graduate-Admissions@ejly.net
• Interview with the Dean of Graduate Studies: Following your application review, qualified candidates will be invited for an interview with Dr. Henson. This is an opportunity to further discuss your goals, fit for the program, and how you can contribute to our academic community. It’s a friendly and informative conversation, aimed at understanding your passion and commitment to the program.

After the interview, our team will review all the components of your application and send you an official decision letter. If accepted, you'll receive information on the next steps, including orientation and registration details.
